Lego Cake

The LEGO cake

I am so excited that I found these pictures on my computer! I thought I had deleted them. This was a lego cake I did for a friend for her little boy turning 5. He loves Legos!!! It was so much fun to create! This was done in the fall of 2009. I may get to make another one when Tann gets older.

Sophie's Fairyland

This year for Sophie's 3 year birthday we had a Fairy party. Her and her friends from playschool had so much fun becoming fairies! I made cupcakes for the party with white buttercream frosting with fairy wings. Then each little girl got to pick from a variety of "fairy dust sprinkles" to decorate their own cupcake. The cake I made for her birthday we ate the next day which really was her birthday. The fairy garden cake was 2 10" rounds with 2 6" rounds layered on top. The flowers used were made from royal icing. The fairy party I wanted the cake for decoration, the only problem was is that I was short on time and didn't have time to make the white fondant bow for the top layer...so I just used som royal icing flowers. On Saturday however I made the white bow! For the food at the fairy party, I made butterfly sandwiches. Then we read a fairy book on becoming a fairy, each girl got a pair of wings along with a wand. For an activity station we decorated the wands with ribbon, we played pin the wings on the fairy and then opened presents. The fairy guests each went home with a pair of wings, a wand, and special fairy pouch with prizes. The party was 1 1/2 hours, but I wish we would have had just a little bit more time. What a magical day!

My Baby is 1!!!!

He LOVED the little teddy bear!!!
This cake was inspired by the cute invitations I had bought before he was born....on clearance at Hobby Lobby. I have been into the Green and Blue kick for him since before he was born. His room is blue and green (not the blue and green I used for his bday)....and so it was fitting to have blue and green as his birthday colors. We had a "TEDDY BEAR PICNIC" birthday party and since the invites had little bears on them along with cute blue and green stripes I decided I was going to make the traditional Wilton Bear cake using the TEddy bear cake pan....guess what? I can't find it anywhere and I really didn't want to pay a lot for a new pan...So I decided I would create my own bear cake. I made a 2 layer white 8" square cake on the bottom and a 2 layer 6" round chocolate on top....with my traditional buttercream...I really wanted to do fondant because it looks so much better...but it just tastes awful....so I tried my best to create a fondant looking cake with my buttercream. I made the teddy bears out of fondant though. It is a tradition for me to make my 1 year olds their very own mini-cake to dig into. My baby didn't really dig into it like I had planned but he sure did like eating it from a fork! It was delicious! Since I had to hurry to finish this cake...I realize I got a little sloppy on the lines...it bugs me they are not straight...but I guess thats what happens when you have only 30 minutes to decorate it (the finish work of course blue/green and star border)

Notice the Blue Teddy Bear chocolates (left of picture) I made using my bear candy mold!

Cherry Blossom Cake

Here are some pictures of the latest cake. This time I was the helper or sous chef . I helped my friend Chelsea with her daughters 1 year old birthday cake. I can't take much credit for the cute cake. She came up with the idea, design, etc. It took us about 4 hours to decorate. We used a small flower cutter for the 'cherry blossoms' and then used the ball/point tool for a more 3D look. Check out more about this amazing 1 year old Cherry Blossom birthday at my friends blog. http://www.lifefrosting.blogspot.com/
This was for her daughter to tear apart!

This has her daughters name in Japanese
